How to set up reminders for inspection, service and oil
A reminder needs two things: how often, and when it was last done. Moterno then tells you when it is due.
Open the Reminders tab
Open your vehicle and choose the Reminders tab.
Tap a preset
A vehicle with no reminders shows one-tap presets. For a car: an inspection preset named for your country (MOT, every 12 months, on accounts set to the United Kingdom; EU-kontroll (periodic inspection), every 24 months, on accounts set to Norway, where EU-kontroll is the Norwegian name), Annual service and Oil change (every 12 months). Other vehicle kinds get Annual service. A preset opens the form already filled in. Nothing is saved until you press Add reminder. You can also press Add reminder at the top and pick any type yourself.

Say when it was last done
Check Every (months), then fill in Last done — date. This matters: without a last-done date or reading, Moterno has nothing to count from, and the reminder stays unscheduled and sends nothing. Not sure? Leave it blank and press Mark done after the next time. You can also count by distance with Every (km).

Press Add reminder
The reminder shows up with its due date. It turns due soon about a tenth of the interval before it is due (at least 14 days, so around five weeks for a yearly one) and overdue after the date.
Choose how you are told
When a reminder is due soon or overdue, Moterno sends one e-mail at 09:00 your local time covering everything that is due. E-mail is on by default. To add push, open your profile, choose Notifications, and under Maintenance reminders tick Push notification, then Enable on this device. The time zone is set on your profile's Account tab. If a reminder is still open after about 25 days, you get a nudge again.

When it is done
Press Mark done to restart the schedule, or Mark done & log entry to also write it to the timeline.
- Saving a Norwegian plate with a known inspection date adds the inspection reminder for you (EU-kontroll is the Norwegian name). Otherwise the Reminders tab offers it with one button. The same goes for a UK vehicle when the MOT expiry is already known from a MOT check.
- In the UK you can also get a free MOT reminder by e-mail without an account: enter the registration at moterno.com/mot-check and confirm. With an account, the same page can add the MOT reminder to your vehicle.
- AI-suggested reminders are a Premium extra. Everything above is free.
